How to hold your guitar and hold/use a guitar pick.
I'm thinking that you're having ants in your pants because you've been dying to actually start playing the guitar. Yeah yeah, I've been blabbering alot in the first few sections. But in this section, you'll learn how to properly hole your guitar, as well as use the guitar pick. Good luck! ;)
Just strum'n my lovely guitar...
Holding the guitar is not what you think. Yeah it has its unique shape so that it can easily rest on your lap; but what I mean by properly holding the guitar correctly is that your left hand must be in position. Your left hand is actually what supports the neck & head of the guitar up.
The left hand is what mainly supports the guitar head/neck up.
So to hold the guitar, the correct position in holding it all depends on your thumb. It's easy, really. All you do is to press your thumb against the back of the guitar neck, not wrap it around the neck. And you've got the correct hand posture for holding the guitar! \(^.^)/
Next, you need to have good finger posture when playing chords, warm-ups, etc. This is all on the left hand, since it is the hand that switches to different positions/combinations on the guitar strings to create a wide variety of sounds. The main point is to curve your fingers when pressing on the string, so that the finger tips are the parts that do the pressing. The wrong way that many beginners do is that their kind of flatten their fingers on the strings to get in a more comfortable position. No, no, no, that's is the incorrect way. Although I do have to admit that pressing on the strings with your finger tips is sometimes exhausting, but it'll help you in the future to that you can create a much clearer sound, and not get your fingers look messed up. I'm try'in to create a good habit here so that you all can become good guitarists yourselves.
Lastly, you must learn how to hold the pick correct as well. This one's very simple. Here's a gif that I made to help you understand how to hold a pick (its a first-timer, so don't judge me!).

By the way, this is how you should end up when you have the correct hand placement for holding a pick. In addition, you pluck the string only with the tip of your guitar pick. Afterwards, you should be ready to start strumming!
